The home race is always a special one for a driver. However, in Charles Leclerc’s case, the home race is indeed special but for a very special reason. The Monaco GP has been put under threat by a recent protest. As people suggest that Charles Leclerc’s Monaco curse is doing wonders, they are split over the consequence of the curse. Let’s find out what the protest is all about and why the fans are left divided.
It was only in 2022 when Charles Leclerc actually managed to finish the Monaco GP finishing P4. In all the previous years Leclerc failed to finish the race or score any points at his home race. Suspension problems in 2017 in F2, brake failure in 2018 with Toro Rosso, messed up strategy in 2019 by Ferrari, and unable to start the race in 2021 because of a qualifying crash. However, while he scored points in 2022, he earlier crashed Niki Lauda’s 1974 Ferrari into the barrier during a demo run in Monaco.

It looks like Charles Leclerc’s Monaco curse has already started showing up even before the start of the race weekend. CGT Energy recently announced the “100 Days of Action and Anger” campaign as a protest against Emmanuel Macron’s signing of the new pension reform. CGT Energy threatened to cut the power for the Monaco GP and other events as a protest against the new pension reform signed by the President of France.
According to RTL.fr, the unions of the National Federation of Mines Energy (FNME) CGT mentioned “The grévilla, in the terms of the organization, will also continue with energy disruptions during the executive’s travel. The Cannes Film Festival, the Monaco Grand Prix, the Roland-Garros tournament, and the Avignon Festival could be found in the dark! We won’t give up!”
The fans were quick to connect the dots between the affected Monaco GP and Charles Leclerc’s curse at his home race. However, the opinion on the consequence of the curse was differentiated, splitting the fans into two groups. Let’s see how the fans react and the two thoughts of opinion.
Fans react to the possible threat to the Monaco GP
After knowing the possibility of an affected Monaco GP, people took to Twitter to express their thoughts on the same. The F1 fans were quick to make assumptions about it being related to Leclerc’s curse. The first set of thoughts suggested how the Monegasque’s curse will finally make the Monaco Gp interesting. These comments were made in light of the fact that these new F1 cars are huge and are difficult to overtake on a narrow track, thus making the Monaco GP boring.

The second set of thought was in favor of race cancellation. They suggested how the cancellation of the Monaco GP will end the miserable run of Charles Leclerc at his home. Some suggested how it’s better not to have the cursed Monaco race rather than Charles crashing during it.

From our point of view, we could understand both sets of thoughts that the fans have come up with. Giving credit where it’s due, both sets need to be given credit for the creativity of thinking and linking the dots to Charles Leclerc’s curse.
