Sebastian Vettel will part ways with Ferrari at the end of 2020. This could be an opportunity for Fernando Alonso to make a comeback in Formula 1.
Recently, Fernando Alonso announced in an Instagram Live, “I know more or less what I’m doing for next year, and hopefully many of you will know soon,”
It is a known fact that Alonso is interested in making a comeback to F1 with a title contender team. He shares a decent relationship with the Italian outfit and their decision to part ways in 2014 was mutual. And his performance at the team was relatively good.

Additionally, he is a proven driver who is capable of winning races and challenge for the title. Sainz, on the other hand, is promising but was often overshadowed by his teammates at Toro Rosso, Renault F1, and Mclaren.
In an old interview he stated that he’s keen on making a comeback to F1 after the regulation change takes place. He told Sky Sports F1 during the 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend.
“[The regulation changes] in 2021, I think that’s the reason why I keep open possibilities, because maybe things mix a little bit with the new rules. So let’s see next year what opportunity comes,”
Vettel’s announcement brings a 5-year relationship to an end and casts a massive wave of uncertainty over Vettel’s future.
Vettel said in a statement, “The team and I have realized that there is no longer a common desire to stay together beyond the end of this season. Financial matters have played no part in this joint decision. That’s not the way I think when it comes to making certain choices and it never will be.”

However, according to the latest reports, Ferrari could announce Carlos Sainz very soon. Allegedly, The Italian team is still in the process of sorting out details in the Spaniard’s contract for next season. Several rumors hinted at Sainz joining Ferrari so an official confirmation shouldn’t be surprising. However for Sainz, a move to Ferrari will be career-ending for a driver, if he fails at Ferrari there is no redemption.

Additionally, Italian journalist Leo Turini is saying that after Sainz’s move to Ferrari Ricciardo will replace him at Mclaren. And Vettel will join Renault F1.

Sebastian replaced Alonso at Ferrari when he decided to move to Mclaren in 2014. Alonso was with the team for years and had a good run. However, the Spanish driver never managed to convert his good run into a championship title. He finished runner-up to Sebastian Vettel three times in tightly-contested title duels in 2010 and 2012 and again in 2013.
