Remember how Lewis Hamilton complained about the seating position in W14? How he suggested that he felt disconnected from the car? Well, the W14 might just have added another problem for Hamilton to deal with. As the 38-year-old radioed the team enquiring about the problem, the LH army was sent into a traumatic state as the radio reminded them of tragic flashbacks. What was Hamilton’s radio call and why were the fans distressed?
Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton were expected to take revenge for the 2021 title robbery in 2022. However, a change in regulations and the introduction of ground-effect cars meant a new problem was faced by the teams. The 2022 cars were prone to porpoising as the ground effect sucked the cars to the ground and then released the suction. Mercedes were amongst the cars that were worst affected by this problem.

As a result, the Silver Arrows had to run the car higher compared to the rivals causing them to lose out on the crucial downforce. This meant rivals like Red Bull ran away with the championship, leaving Mercedes to look for answers. However, coming into the 2023 season, Mercedes seemed to have sorted the porpoising issue with a little from the FIA as the ride height was raised compared to 2022 to take care of the porpoising issue.
Nevertheless, Lewis Hamilton recently radioed his team about a possible porpoising problem during the 2023 Miami GP free practice. According to a Tweet posted on Twitter, Lewis Hamilton radioed “I’m bouncing. Don’t know if the other car is too?”. While the bouncing could’ve very well been because of the nature of Miami being a street circuit, fans had their own assumptions to make.
As the Briton radioed his team about bouncing, fans were taken back to the 2022 season, where porpoising shredded Mercedes’ hope of having a solid season. Fans expressed their concerns about Lewis Hamilton’s radio call.
Fans react to Lewis Hamilton complaining about porpoising
Fans took to Twitter to express their concerns about Lewis Hamilton asking his team whether other cars were also bouncing and not only his. Tired of the Mercedes struggling to keep pace with Red Bull, many fans asked the team to burn this W14, suggesting they can’t take the pain anymore. Others suggested that the Mercedes was back to bouncing again, like in 2022. Let’s see how the fans reacted.

Responding to the bouncing, some suggested that Mercedes has given Hamilton a kangaroo named w14 to drive once again, while some were just way too weak for all these Mercedes problems.
Did Mercedes give sir Lewis a kangaroo to ride or what? https://t.co/F1jdmUwyfn

Track is still kinda bumpy so let’s see
— Lincoln Charles (@_lincoln_jr) May 5, 2023
There were some who were hopeful that it might just be because of the bumpy nature of a street track but other cars were not seen bouncing. We’ll have to wait for Qualifying to really see what’s going on
