Speaking to David Coulthard after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the former driver told Hamilton about what was coming to Silverstone that will be remembered for years to come in the history of Formula One. The announcement left the world champion speechless.
He said, “Wow, that is insane, no way. That is definitely a curveball. I don’t even know what to say.
“I remember watching Silverstone and watching Nigel and seeing that incredible crowd and I have also experienced it year on year. It is something so close to my heart. You would have experienced too, and such a proud moment.

“I am blown away. No driver has had that, so I am very grateful, very humbled, and a big thank you to everyone for supporting me. I hope I can continue to make the BRDC and the Brits proud for the time I am here racing,” Lewis concluded.
Hamilton will look forward to zipping down the Hamilton straight
There is no other driver in the F1 grid to have a part of a track named after themselves. The seven-time world champion is surely looking forward to race this weekend and will make sure that it will be one to remember for.
The 36-year-old is hoping to beat his arch-rivals, and see the chequered flag in first place down the main straight, as his team cheers him on from the pit wall.
