At the British GP, Lewis Hamilton showed up as a double threat. He was prepping for his home race and doing the job of a movie producer over the weekend. And on Sunday, the Brad Pitt starrer was shot live on the Silverstone circuit, as the Oscar-winner lined up on the grid alongside the F1 drivers for the formation lap. But because of Pitt’s loyalty, the $140 million budget movie, co-produced by Hamilton, has been temporarily shelved, shattering the Briton’s dreams.

The Briton has been keenly involved in the pre-production as an executive producer. And his experiences on the tracks will increase the aspect of realism in the movie, showing the sport for what it is. To increase believability, there was an exclusive garage made for APXGP at Silverstone. APXGP is the team that Pitt’s character, Sonny Hayes, will be racing for. They successfully executed that shoot. However, big problems have arisen now.

Since May, around 11500 screenwriters have been on strike in Hollywood, owing to low wages and poor working conditions. July is the third consecutive month of the strike. And now members of the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists union, which Pitt is a part of, have gone on strike too. As a result, Hollywood has been nearly shut down.

And along with Hollywood, Hamilton’s movie too has entered a dark phase. All filming has been halted for the time being,” a source close to the production told NBC News, as quoted by Formulapassion.it. “Brad had really enjoyed it, but he’s definitely a very loyal member of the union.”

The 7-time champion had also gotten Mercedes Boss Toto Wolff to work on his movie. And Wolff had an important role to play in training Brad Pitt for driving an F1 car. Using his connections, he got the American actor trained in a racing school in France. That is where Pitt went through rigorous training. He started practicing on F4 cars and ascended his way up to F1 cars.

Wolff was even happy with the narrative and the detailing that the director, Joseph Kosinski, put into his work. But Wolff’s spirits have also been dampened with the movie production getting halted. And all activities related to filming and production will be postponed until a solution to the strike is found.
