Lewis Hamilton has recently been invested in the upcoming Formula 1 movie, featuring Brad Pitt in the lead role. The movie will be about a fictional team on the grid along with the current roaster. The good news for the Brit fans is that he will be producing and acting in the movie, and it would feel empty if he wasn’t there. Along with him, there will be the rest of the grid too and the good news is that the shooting has already started.

The movie that is set to release in 2025 is in its production phase, and there have been glimpses of the crew on the race tracks. One of the most recent spots for the crew was at Silverstone, along with a modified F2 car that they were using for the shoot. In a recent interview, the 7-time world champion mentioned a pet peeve when it comes to racing movies, and the picture shows that it would not be a problem anymore.

Brad Pitt is set to play Sonny Hayes, a driver for the APX team, with Damson Idris co-starring as Joshua Pearce in the second car. These APX drivers will be duking it out with the current grid, but capturing these racing scenes authentically is no easy feat. During his Hot Ones interview on First We Feast’s YouTube channel, Hamilton dished on the big issue with racing movies: the racing scenes often look fake.

Hamilton broke down the technical challenge, per a Planet F1 report, explaining that recording cars from camera-rigged trucks is tricky. Trucks can’t hit 250 mph to keep up with two F1 cars racing neck and neck. So, scenes are shot at slower speeds and sped up in post-production to give that thrilling, high-speed effect. However, judging by a picture that surfaced on Reddit today, it looks like the cars were really hauling. The snapshot from Silverstone shows a wrecked modded F2 car on the side of the track, suggesting they’re going for realism.

This flick is shaping up to be something special, and with Hamilton’s hands-on involvement, fans can expect a movie that finally does justice to the high-octane world of F1.

From the looks of the crash, it is clear that the car needed to be at quite some speed to suffer such damage. Judging by that, it could be said that the cars are not going slow, even while shooting, which might just ease Lewis Hamilton’s pet peeve of recording racing scenes.

Despite the damage being quite expensive, the car crash was just a sacrifice that had to happen. The team is serious about making the movie bring more fans into the sport, and many cannot wait to see what Brad Pitt and the Mercedes driver have in store for us.

Brad Pitt and Lewis Hamilton on screen is, anyway, a big deal! So, the sooner, the better. However, the team is still in the shooting process of the film, and it’s expected to go on along with the season. Recently, Brad Pitt announced the release date of the untitled film, which will premiere in IMAX on June 27, 2025.

With that said, there is just about a year before we can see what the Hollywood star is cooking with the F1 sensation. Directing the movie is Joseph Kosinski, who has not yet decided the name of the movie so far.

Along with Brad Pitt, Lewis Hamilton, and Damson Idris, the film will include popular names like Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, and Tobias Menzies supporting the main cast. Ehren Kruger, the writer, is known for his versatility, as he has worked on projects like The Ring, Tom Gun Maverick, and Disney’s Dumbo. With such influential names on the team, the movie seems extremely promising. There are many people from the FOM who are supporting the movie, and there are no stones unturned.
