Max Verstappen is quickly becoming a household name. The Dutchman beat Lewis Hamilton last year in a controversial manner to claim his maiden world championship. He took that momentum into this season as he dominated the grid and won his successive title with some ease.

Unsurprisingly, the Dutchman enjoys a large fan following around the world. Amongst them is the Internet sensation Harry Lewis, who was the youngest member of the Sidemen crew, the British YouTube group consisting of internet personalities KSI.

Verstappen won a mindboggling 15 races over the course of this season. In doing so, he set a new record for winning the most races in a single season. It was previously held by Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel, with the German duo winning 13 races each.

It springs no surprise then that the $18M British YouTuber is a big fan of the Dutch Lion. He took to his Twitter account and tweeted, “Max surely the best driver of the last decade.”

However, the tweet might come as a surprise for many given Harry’s close friend, KSI is a huge Lewis Hamilton fan. The Boxer, who currently has a 3-0 record, considers the Mercedes driver as one of the GOATs and aspires to be like him. Harry and KSI are self-made millionaires and the former is the second most subscribed Sidemen member after KSI.

Dutch Racing Driver believes Max Verstappen didn’t dominate the grid despite creating history

Not many thought Sebastian Vettel’s record of 13 wins in a single season was even achievable. Fast forward to 2022, Max Verstappen absolutely smashed the German driver’s record as well as any doubts that people had about him. However, in an unpopular opinion, the sporting director of the Dutch GP Jan Lammers claims that Verstappen did not dominate the season.

Lammers said, “I don’t know if all of us realize how special this year was. Of course, we have the record with 15 wins from Max. That is really special.” [Translated by Google]

He further added, “Usually such victories come from dominance, but the most special thing of all is Max hasn’t dominated. The last few races looked easy but he still had to fight for it and even started the season with a bit of adversity.”

The Dutch Lion also broke the record for scoring most points in a single season (454) previously set by Mercedes rival Lewis Hamilton.
