Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton’s relationship goes a long way back to the karting days. But as Lewis joined Mercedes alongside Rosberg, the rivalry grew between them. And the relationship between the duo hasn’t been the best since their infamous crash during the 2016 Spanish GP.

The duo often fought neck and neck, even crashing into each other, sharing the top two spots in the championship among them for three years. But Lewis edged his teammate by winning it twice. Then Rosberg retired after winning the WDC in 2016, and Valtteri Bottas hopped in. And the dynamics changed entirely in Mercedes.

Bottas then established himself as a strong competitor and has had several successful seasons with the team. While Bottas and Hamilton have also had a competitive relationship on the track, it was not as contentious as the one between Hamilton and Nico Rosberg

Bottas and Lewis went on to win five constructors championships in a row until Bottas departed for Alfa Romeo in 2022. In a farewell post, Lewis called the Finn “the best teammate I’ve had the pleasure of working with,” as quoted by Planet F1.

Nico Rosberg, in a fun and light gathering, commented on the episode. He said, “Bottas was super useful. He never beat Lewis, they were chill. That’s why, that’s why [Lewis] says he [Bottas] was his favorite teammate of all time. I wanted to write under [Instagram post], ‘What about me?’ Yeah, but Bottas my true love.”

Rosberg also joked about Hamilton’s post during Sky F1’s coverage and was quoted by Planet F1 as saying, “No I do feel that as disrespect, I mean what did I do wrong?” The banter and digs from Nico continue. And we can’t get enough of them.

Rosberg also pointed out that Bottas helped create a healthy atmosphere within the team during his time at Mercedes, which was not always the case during Rosberg’s own tenure as Hamilton’s teammate.
