When Taylor Swift sang, “I am an Aston Martin, “, the F1 world was left gasping for air. Why? Because this was a revival of a rumor that began and ended in 2023. She was linked to Formula 1’s bad boy Fernando Alonso, solely based on a rumor circulated for fun. As it snowballed into a full-blown crossover, everyone began to enjoy it, including F1 commentators who arrived at a Grand Prix having memorized all of Taylor’s lyrics. But what’s next for Taylonso? We don’t know that yet. All we know is that US GP has used this wave to draw the audience to their event.
This is the kind of crossover the world hopes and prays for. And as F1 is growing more popular by the day in the United States, one could hope for a crossover this big sooner rather than later. The US Grand Prix has artists perform before the race. After offering an early bird ticket buyback (context: people who bought cheap tickets during the early bird offer can sell them back to the organizers and get some extra dollars in the process), Circuit of The Americas’ founding partner has thrown in a hint at how big it can be.
The identity of the musical guest, meanwhile, remains a mystery. “Taylor (Swift) was here a few years ago, and I’ll say this is the biggest we’ve had since then,” said COTA founding partner Bobby Epstein told CNN, dropping a hint at how big it can be. COTA will announce the entertainment lineup on April 29, and early bird buyers have until May 6 to sell back their tickets for $350.

But knowing that COTA is teasing and luring fans with Taylor’s name (even when she won’t be the one performing), it remains to be seen if Christian Horner’s prophecy falls flat on his face.

“She’s lucky if she’s allowed in”: Christian Horner on Taylor Swift after F1’s boom in America
Drive to Survive has done the unthinkable for this European-centric sport. Now there are over 70 million people in the States who tune in to watch F1 races and F1 has responded by designating three races in the USA. But did the popularity make the Red Bull team principal make a high-headed claim?
Last year talking about how big F1 has become ever since Taylor last performed for the sport in Austin, Horner joked, “If you remember Austin a few years ago, we were having to get Taylor Swift there to get a crowd there. Now she’s lucky if she’s allowed in if she can get a pass.”
