Current World Champion Max Verstappen has recently revealed some new things about the 2022 car. The cars, revamped under the new FIA regulations, have been specifically designed to promote better racing.

While there are several modifications, the major ones are the tire width and weight of the cars. With the pre-season testings over, we already have results in about the performance of the machineries.

Mostly, the drivers have given encouraging feedback for their respective cars. However, the teams couldn’t escape the common problem of “Porpoising”, which feels almost like turbulence on a plane. While many teams have reportedly managed to overcome it, we can say nothing with surety.

On the positive side, we can expect the racing to become more exciting. Earlier, the cars used to leave behind “Dirty air”, which is now replaced by “Clean air”. Moreover, a minimized swirl situation will also facilitate better wheel-to-wheel action.

Speaking about the new cars, Red Bull Hero Max Verstappen recently claimed“I think it’s getting better. At least it’s better than last year. Last year, when I got behind someone, I suddenly got understeer or a lot of oversteer. It was out of control,”

“Now I know I lose downforce when I’m behind other cars, and that happens at the front and rear, so it’s easier for the driver to predict and control.”

Verstappen, when asked about the fun in driving the new F1 cars, said,“The car was a lot slower in low speed corners because the car was much heavier. On courses with many low speed corners, the fun of driving may be lessened.”

“But if you go to a course with many high-speed corners, driving will be very interesting.”

While fans await the season-opener, this news is bound to get them all excited. Furthermore, the cars performed very well in the pre-season testing. Funnily enough, Haas, who finished last in 2021, clocked in the fastest laps on Day 1 and Day 2.
