Lando Norris and his jokes never fail to amuse his fans. Being among the younger crop of F1 drivers, Lando is well aware of the trending memes and pop culture. In October 2019, content creator Mufasa shot to fame with his “it’s Friday then” dance. Lando had the viral video stuck in his mind and it came out during a radio check. The moment has made a comeback and caught fans off-guard as BBC Radio’s Greg James plays it on his show.

Mufasa posted a video of himself being recorded by his friend Hypeman on Instagram in 2019. In the video, he steps out of the car and dances to The Nightcrawlers’ 1992 song “Push The Feeling On” playing in the background. Before that, Hypeman and Mufasa sing to the song’s tune but tweak the chorus to “it’s Friday then, it’s Saturday, Sunday, what?!”

In 2020, Lando was driving his McLaren car on the track when he was asked to confirm a radio check. Instead of the regular message, Lando chose to sing “it’s Friday then” on top of his voice. As much as fans loved it, turns out radio personality and famous comedian Greg James did as well. In his BBC Radio 1’s breakfast show, James played Lando’s audio and caught fans by surprise.

Greg loved it so much that, as per BBC Radio 1’s tweet, he chose it as his Unexpected Sport Moment Of The Year during BBC’s The Lockdown Awards in 2020. Turns out, Greg hasn’t gotten over it as he played the audio once again in his today’s show.

Lando’s gaming company Quadrant took notice of it and posted the snippet on Twitter. Have a look at how fans reacted to it. Some even believed the McLaren man could take over the job of the radio announcer.

Listening to the audio Quadrant posted, one fan thought Lando made an appearance on Greg’s show. They quickly opened the app to listen to the show but turns out Norris’ appearance was limited to the little audio.

Now, this is a role we will love to see Lando play. He will definitely do great as a radio announcer. His sense of humor will definitely help keep the audience engaged.

While The Nightcrawlers’ original is a pretty big hit in itself, some fans felt Lando’s version was better.

The hilarious audio clip was the best start to some fans’ day.
