The Italian engineer turned team principal will leave the team after a 28-year-long period at the end of the year. That means Binotto will be in charge until 31st December 2022. However, after that, Scuderia Ferrari will have a new leader before the 2023 championship season starts.
An official statement from the Maranello-based outfit confirmed the news of Binotto’s resignation. Binotto also shared a statement with his resignation.
As per the statement, Binotto said, “With the regret that this entails, I have decided to conclude my collaboration with Ferrari. I am leaving a company that I love, which I have been part of for 28 years. I leave a united and growing team. A strong team, ready, I’m sure, to achieve the highest goals, to which I wish all the best for the future. I think it is right to take this step at this time as hard as this decision has been for me.”
The official communication on Ferrari’s website also disclosed the hunt for the new team principal is underway. However, according to the information, an announcement will only come next year.
However, after the announcement, the Tifosi took to Twitter to express their opinion about Binotto’s resignation.

while I am happy to see mattia leave his role as TP, I'm not happy that he'll be leaving ferrari completely. he's an amazing engineer and will be missed, for sure. i hope our team manages to find someone just as good

Mattia Binotto managed seven wins in four years as Team Principal at Ferrari and subjected them to two whole years in the midfield in that time, thereby wasting nearly half of Leclerc’s multi-year contract. Great technical director but not fit to lead a team, especially Ferrari.

Some fans feel it’s a loss letting Binotto leave completely as he is still an excellent engineer if not a team principal. Whereas there is an entire group of fans who are wishing for a Sebastian Vettel return after this news.

Additionally, there are some fans who fear Binotto’s resignation will not solve the problems that are deep-rooted within the team.
I get why Mattia Binotto would offer his resignation and I understand why Ferrari would accept it, but removing the boss isn't even close to fixing the internal issues the team has.
