The world waited for the American rookie Logan Sargeant to compete with the other new recruits lining up on the grid, namely McLaren’s Oscar Piastri and AlphaTauri’s Nyck de Vries. But as fate held, the man ideally racing against the Woking outfit’s rookie clocked a time similar to Lando Norris up to the thousandth of a second. The feat already put him ahead of his two main competitors and had the world declare him the “best rookie” even before his first Grand Prix.

1.31.652 was the identical time clocked by Sargeant and Norris. But that time put Norris in Q2 because he clocked the time before William’s rookie. This event also went on to remind the F1 world of the 1997 Jerez Grand Prix. It was in that F1 qualifying that the trio of Jacques Villeneuve, Michael Schumacher, and Heinz Herald Frentzen clocked in identical lap times of 1:21.072.

The fans were delighted to see the man racing under star and stripes, who is already a favorite with onlookers, clock in a time that would have technically put him in Q2.
