In a surprising turn of events at the F1 2023 Canadian Grand Prix, Lando Norris, McLaren‘s star driver, was served a five-second penalty for “unsportsmanlike conduct”, a decision that baffled many, including Norris himself. The officials penalized Norris for slowing down to create a gap between himself and his teammate Oscar Piastri during a pit stop, a strategy he believed to be common in the sport. Despite this setback, Norris displayed an impressive drive, executing numerous overtakes throughout the race. Even though Alpine’s Esteban Ocon constantly hounded him during the closing stages, Norris was thrilled with his performance. “It was my best race of the year I would say,” Norris agreed.

“One of my first overtakes of the year today. It was a good race. All my overtakes were in the hairpin, I was really confident on the brakes.” He continued saying, “The pace was good. I wouldn’t say it was amazing, but good enough to hold on to the Alfa and the Alpine and have a chance to at least race them.”
