The favorite race of the British world champion, Lewis Hamilton, is upon us. Hamilton’s won this race for a record-equaling eight times so far. And like every other F1 race, we can expect some drama at the British GP as well. While Silverstone might see some on-track drama, it might not be like any other race that we have witnessed so far.

Amid the controversy surrounding Nelson Piquet’s comments, the police claim to have “credible intelligence” of protestors’ planning to invade the track during the race. And the police are now doing everything to take control of this situation. 400,000 people will attend the race weekend and the police are requesting everyone to stay vigilant during the weekend.
The police issued a warning to the protesters to make them reconsider their dangerous and potentially fatal actions.
“First of all, I want to appeal directly to this group of people and strongly urge you to not put yourselves, the drivers, as well as the many marshals, volunteers and members of the public, at risk. Going onto a live racetrack is extremely dangerous – if you go ahead with this reckless plan you are jeopardising lives,” said Ch Insp Tom Thompson, the event commander.
He even said the police will help to “facilitate a peaceful protest.”
A protestor running on the track, a situation that comes to pass, can turn extremely dangerous for everyone on track. However, Tompson is taking extra measures for the entire race weekend. He is also confident in their preparation and suggests the force won’t be complacent and will be “as stringent as ever”.
But what is the reason behind the protests?
Racist comments toward Lewis Hamilton: the reason behind protests
All the incidents and the comments of the past week are the reason behind the protests. Nelson Piquet Sr. the former world champion, was accused of using a racial slur to refer to Hamilton during an interview. There was a lot of outrage following Piquet’s comments as the Mercedes man felt the support of the entire F1 fraternity.

Bernie Ecclestone, however, might have jeopardized the entire sport with his comments about Vladimir Putin. And to make matter worse, the former CEO also talked about Piquet’s comments on Hamilton and said, “Surprised Lewis hasn’t just brushed it aside.”

On a separate occasion, Ecclestone has also advised Hamilton to retire from the sport seeing his current form. The negativity thrown toward the world champion is unfathomable.
All these individual comments targeting and addressing the British champ Hamilton is causing all the outrage. Hopefully, nothing serious comes into effect during the race while people continue to show their discontent toward the comments.
