Sebastian Vettel is a four-time world champion in Formula One. But his glory days are behind him as in the past few years he has been merely a shell of his old self. The German is currently driving for the Aston Martin F1 team, which had an uncompetitive 2021 season.
Interestingly, former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone believes Vettel should go back to Red Bull. Vettel and Red Bull had a successful partnership and won 4 drivers’ and constructors’ championships from 2010 to 2013. Bernie believes no one knows how quick Seb is, as he is an uncompetitive car.

He needs to be back in Red Bull, actually: Former F1 Boss on Sebastian Vettel
As reported by Planetf1, Ecclestone stated that to show his true pace at this stage of his career, Vettel needs to be in a competitive car like Red Bull. Bernie mentioned it is natural if Vettel contemplates retirement, but he still has the fire burning.
“We don’t know how quick he is anymore because he’s not in a competitive car–so it’s not easy to say he’s not as quick as he used to be. He needs to be back in Red Bull, actually,” said Bernie.

“Of course, sometimes you ask yourself the question of meaning. I’d be lying if I said the thought hadn’t crossed my mind yet. If I don’t feel the inner drive and ambition anymore and just stick with it to deliver messages or increase the bank balance, that would be a betrayal of the generation that is yet to come and live that dream… but the fire is still burning.” said the former Formula One boss.
It is an interesting suggestion by Ecclestone for Vettel. But it is highly unlikely that either driver of the Austrian team would look to partner Vettel at this stage of his career. And seeing how the 2021 season panned out, it is almost impossible for this scenario to materialize.
