Ferrari is in a state of utter panic. The team hasn’t delivered as they have an extremely low score of 26 points on the board. Added to that, there has been an alarming outflux of the ‘important’ people. Maranello is almost having their own personal silly season and we aren’t just talking about strategy failures but people making switches. And team principal, Frederic Vasseur, made a boastful claim saying, “I don’t think key people will leave” and has been given a brutal reality check by the supreme boss, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna.

Frederic’s appointment in itself saw a key figure of the scarlet team move aside to make way, and after his appointment, many such foundational figures of the team saw their way out. However, it was stated that Vasseur’s hiring as a part of the aggressive restructuring has left a few unhappy. While Fred described Laurent Mekies as “the pillar of future”, this time the restructuring has taken the man he wanted around.

The speculation is that Vasseur who wanted the man to stay, the decision was still made. Does this mean that the newly appointed TP will now be at loggerheads with the CEO?

Well probably not but we can definitely state that Mekies’ move isn’t a happy situation for the captain of the sinking ship. Moreover, Fred’s overtly positive attitude isn’t helping the cause.

“Mercedes obviously wants to know and find out what is going on and will come with updates in Baku. And from Ferrari, so far we have not been able to get the right assessment. What I just don’t understand is that team boss [Frederic] Vasseur can see everything so positively.”
