Needless to say, the season has been underwhelming for the 7-time world champion. However, he has still found something to cheer about amidst all the failure.

Ever since the start of the year, Mercedes struggled with one thing or the other. Reflecting on the season ahead of the Abu Dhabi GP, Hamilton said, It’s been a pretty terrible season. It’s definitely not been a good season in terms of performance but it’s been a really great season in terms of all the team having to push together. We’ve learned so many new things, we’ve harnessed new tools. We’ve found better and new ways of working together. So I think it’s been overall actually a really impactful year.”

Speaking on the Mercedes 1-2 result in Brazil, Hamilton continued, Having that result not just informs us that we’re on the right track, we know where we need to put the car for next year and we should come back kind of guns blazing next year, kind of thing. It’s definitely going to still be tough.”
