Following the Abu Dhabi final in 2021, life hadn’t been easy for any Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes fans. While last year’s Hamilton and Co. saga centered primarily on their battle with W-13’s porpoising problem, this year’s talks have largely focused on his future. Hamilton, who once broke streaks of wins in his career, hasn’t taken home even a single race win since 2021. This statistic tells us enough about the man’s apparent emotional rollercoaster experience. However, the Mercedes Maestro has now expanded on his earlier statement and remarked on his impending contract negotiations.

The British driver may have accomplished everything, however, he is still tied with Michael Schumacher at 7 Championships. Obtaining an elusive eighth title is the only remaining aim from a statistical standpoint for the Mercedes ace. And while talking of the current predicament, the Briton is yet to sign a contract extension, even when his current one expires at the conclusion of this season. And as time goes on, Hamilton fans’ breath becomes increasingly labored given the time Hamilton is taking to sign the deal.

Nevertheless, Toto Wolff and Hamilton have both asserted numerous times that a deal can be reached over coffee, however considering that the British driver has fallen through the emotional rollercoaster where he feels that “ Success is so fleeting” and ” [Formula 1] It is so intense, a stressful environment for everyone working in it,” one might think is whether the seven times champion really interested in signing the contract.

There is no need to worry, though, as Hamilton himself has commented on the subject. Being an upbeat person, Hamilton wants to “work hard” with the team and is also mindful of how “complex” the deal is for anyone to comprehend.

Hamilton cited the following in a tweet: “I’m going in-depth with my contracts now. But I plan to be here. I have a lot of work to do with this team. I think it’s definitely an emotional rollercoaster on both sides. It’s an ongoing process and no one can understand the full complexity of the situation.”

In his most recent interview with the BBC, Wolff compared his partnership with the Mercedes Maestro to his marriage. The Austrian initially said, “Lewis has become a friend and over years we’ve gone through difficult spells and very good moments. A key moment was at the end of 2016 where we didn’t speak to each other for a while. So I invited him to come to my kitchen in Oxford and sit down and have a chat.”

Later, the Mercedes CEO elaborated on the parallel. He said, “The analogy I gave to him is that also I have arguments with [my wife] Susie. Even if we shout at each other, even if we have this argument, there’s never thought of divorcing, and that’s why I said to him, ‘I don’t want to divorce you and neither do you. Because I want the best racing driver in our cars and you want to have the best cars.”
