Haas is reportedly assessing Mick Schumacher’s position on the team. Even though it’s not concrete if the German will be replaced by the outgoing McLaren driver, team boss Guenther Steiner believes it’s Ricciardo who needs to make a call.
On this, the Haas supremo shared to RTL, “In his situation, Daniel first has to decide for himself what to do. It makes little sense to persuade him to do something, he has to decide for himself. If he feels like it, he’ll definitely call, otherwise, he’ll probably say I’m taking a sabbatical or something else.” [Translated using Google]
McLaren has decided to replace Ricciardo with Oscar Piastri next season. That leaves the former Renault driver without a seat in 2023. However, Haas could come to the rescue of the Perth-based driver, as per reports.

After two years, Ricciardo and McLaren are mutually parting ways. As of now, Ricciardo thinks coming back in 2024 after taking a year back might be one step backward but two steps forward.
“I guess I’m not getting too caught up in next year. Of course, I want to race, I want to be on the grid, I want to be competing. But I’m not kind of seeing next year as all or nothing. Obviously, 2024 is something I want to be aware of and look at,” conveyed the 33-year-old.
