However, his latest outing did not go as planned, as a brutal crash took him out. Senior recently updated his fans on the extent of his injuries through social media and got the best of wishes from his son, who is out on an adventure of his own.
Sainz Sr. recently participated in the Dakar Rally, driving an Audi. The outing was short-lived as an impact just three-and-a-half miles into stage 9 rolled his car upside down. The car took a significant impact on the front before turning up on its roof. They quickly airlifted him to be taken to a hospital after him suffering chest pains. However, he asked the pilot to return to the venue midway.
Carlos Sr. recently giving an update on his health, wrote, “On my return to Madrid from the Dakar Rally, the back pain I suffered after the incident of this year’s event persisted longer than usual. Following medical advice, I underwent further checks to assess in detail the extent of the injury.”

“Unfortunately, the results haven’t brought good news because I fractured the T5 and T6 vertebrae. The good thing is that both vertebrae are stable and from this day on my priority will be to recover as soon as possible.”

As per GPBlog, Sainz Sr. ran into some mechanical trouble during the rally. According to the rules, only the driver and co-driver can run repairs while the rally is on. However, Carlos Jr. was present with his father at the repair site.
All he did was close the door for his father once the repairs were done. The FIA did not penalize Sainz Sr., citing the fact that he did not ask for any help.
