Even though Max Verstappen emerged victorious at the end of the Austrian Grand Prix, there was another driver who caught the attention of the fans. Lando Norris, who secured his best-ever start in an F1 race and finished on the podium, also won the Driver of the Day.
Lando Norris wins the vote for Driver of the Day
The 21-year-old has been in fine form this season so far; picking two podiums and his third one at the Red Bull Ring. The Brit did hold his ground as he was attacked by Sergio Perez and later by Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton to claim the podium.

However, what the icing on the cake was his overtake on the seven-time world champion just a few laps later. The way he drove the race from start to finish was brilliant and was recognized by the fans, who gave him 42% of the votes for Driver of the Day.

The Brit showed everyone what he is capable of
Norris hit the ground running at the Austrian Grand Prix this weekend, as he secured a front-row start by coming second, only being beaten by Red Bull’s Verstappen for a shot at a pole position.

However, the McLaren driver was well aware of the mammoth task that lied ahead of him. Regardless, the McLaren driver held his ground, put on a good fight, and secured his third podium of the season.

His third-place finish at the Red Bull Ring saw him bag fifteen points for the Woking-based outfit, ensuring they stay third in the constructor’s championship. Furthermore, Norris also holds fourth place in the drivers’ championship with 101 points. The 21-year-old just needs to bridge the 3-point gap that currently exists between him and Perez to claim the third position in the standings.
With the current form he is, it seems likely that the McLaren driver will hunt down Red Bull’s Perez and gain a position in the championship. What do you think of Lando’s season so far?
