Daniel Ricciardo is coming home

Ricciardo’s start to the current Formula 1 season has not gone according to plan. He also would’ve loved to race in Melbourne under better circumstances. But here we are! However, Heineken has become the official sponsor of Mclaren for the Australian Grand Prix. And to no one’s surprise, their brand ambassador will be Daniel Ricciardo for the weekend.

To start off, every driver would see Ricciardo written on a massive board throughout the race before turn one. A smartly put ad board. This is the type of practical joke we can expect out of Daniel Ricciardo. And it won’t come as a surprise if he’s behind it.

We don’t know how visible it will be to all the drivers, but it is a fun way to cheer the driver, especially given the poor form Mclaren is in right now.

Red cross will also auction a helmet designed by artist Reko Rennie in collaboration with Heineken and Mclaren for Queensland flood victims. Auctioning will be after the Grand Prix and in the middle of it all will be Daniel Ricciardo as the brand ambassador for the weekend.

Let’s talk about the race

Apart from all the promotional activities, it is a difficult yet important race for Mclaren and Daniel. Mclaren’s car has been only the eighth quickest in the opening two races. And keeping in mind, this is Daniel’s home turf, and he wouldn’t want to disappoint the fans attending the race. They need to make a lot of improvements.

But hopefully, with plenty of time for all the teams over the last week or so, there have been major developments in the car. Especially if Mclaren needs to give a fight to its rivals and start collecting points.

After the disastrous Bahrain race, this was still a better result, all things considered. The no gap between both races did not help the team either.

The fans would be hoping to see a better car from Mclaren at the Australian Grand Prix.
