Ever so recently, the world of Formula 1 racing and tennis seems to collide often. With the iconic Wimbledon tournament underway, A-listers from the world of sports and showbiz have been making mega appearances. But behind all the glitz and glamor stands a deep connection between F1 and tennis. As it turns out, a love triangle is brewing between Carlos Alcaraz, Fernando Alonso, and another F1 star!

Alcaraz and Italian, Matteo Berrettini, are locked into a tense Round of 16 bout as we speak. And Monegasque, Charles Leclerc, is seemingly in Alcaraz’s corner. That being said, the Spanish tennis ace may have an affinity with an ex-Ferrari driver instead.

Leclerc earlier said,?“He?s [Alcaraz] an incredible player. I only saw him on TV until now, but first time I will be seeing him in real-life play and I?m looking forward to that.”?However, while Leclerc will be cheering for the Spaniard to win today, Alcaraz may not share the same wishes about the Monegasque racing ace!

Alcaraz in reality is a Fernando Alonso fan. Auto Bild quoted him as saying, “He has made me a fan of Formula 1. He has made me watch the races and support him. What better way to support Fernando than to wink on camera and wink in the coming days. The truth is that I encourage him to see if we get victory 33. For me what he is doing is crazy. Being at his age practically fighting for the title? It?s wonderful to have him there.”

“Alcaraz grabbed a marker for the winners? traditional post-match camera lens autograph, but instead of his signature he scrawled two words that sent Spanish Twitter into a frenzy on Tuesday afternoon: ?33? –> Soon,” referring to that elusive 33rd GP win Alonso is chasing in 2023.
