F1 fans aren’t usually pleased with how the sport conducts its business in expanding markets, especially the United States. With the popularity of Formula 1 soaring in recent years, there isn’t much awareness about the legends of the sport. And much like last year’s Miami GP or the older United States GP, this year’s showdown in Florida wasn’t any different. In a controversial video similar to that of last year, Martin Brundle, the Sky Sports commentator, was common, but the addition was that of the sport’s legend and three-time champion, Sir Jackie Stewart. Both the stars of the sport faced mishandling before the Miami GP. But Jackie Stewart wasn’t going to let it go.

A legend of the sport, Sir Jackie Stewart, was around Brundle when the latter was conducting his popular grid walk before the race. For his segment, Brundle looked for Roger Federer for a quick interview. So while he was looking for an opportunity, Stewart was around, which prompted Brundle to ask him, “Can you get in there, Jackie?”

For Stewart, this request was enough. Ignoring all the barriers and security in place, he just barged through it all to get the Swiss tennis legend for an interview with Brundle. This was also the point where the former champion was mistreated despite being a legend of the sport. Further, as he moved towards his target, the Sky Sports pundit was repeatedly shouting “Roger!” to get his attention. The 83-year-old was blocked from moving by three different staff members, and Miami circuit security did not appreciate Stewart’s antics, with Brundle yelling, “Jackie, don’t get yourself in trouble for me, for goodness sake.”

However, after a hard try by Stewart, his attempt at bringing Roger Federer for the interview was successful. The tennis legend, who was a part of another outrage online, then joined Brundle for a few seconds after sharing a hug with the Mercedes driver and friend George Russell. Later, the three-time world champion took to Instagram to address the moment.

Sir Jackie Stewart talks about the moment with Roger Federer

The moment emerged as one of the highlights of the Miami weekend. It also remains one of the most talked-about instances of the weekend as it involves a legend of the sport, which left plenty of fans enraged over the security and preferences of the authorities.

Nevertheless, keeping all the negativity aside, Stewart shared his thoughts. Praising Roger Federer for being a good sport, he said on Instagram, “The security did a good job bringing me back behind the ropes…I haven’t had to sneak past security in a while, but anything for you @martinbrundlef1‼️ Thank you for the pictures @tgodsick88 & @rogerfederer for being a good sport.”

Both Brundle and Stewart took the incident sportingly. The fans, however, demanded an apology and rectification for the coming weekends, where legends such as these two shouldn’t be prohibited from anywhere.
