Aston Martin have brought a new signing to their team in the hopes of enjoying a brighter future in the sport of Formula One. The Silverstone-based team announced that Luca Furbatto will take over the role of Engineering Director. While Andrew Green, who previously held that position will be the new Chief Technical Officer.

Furbatto, who has worked previously in the F1 paddock with McLaren, Toro Rosso, Alfa Romeo, and Manor, is looking to bring that experience to Aston Martin and hopes to find success.

Furbatto said on joining Aston Martin, “It is very exciting to join Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team as Engineering Director.

“It is a project that has all the ingredients for success committed leadership, a talented workforce, and fresh investment in resources. I am looking forward to playing my part in establishing this team at the very top of the sport,” he concluded.

Team Principal Otmar Szafnauer has faith in Furbatto and stated, “As we continue to add weight to our technical team. We are hugely excited that Luca Furbatto has chosen to join Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team.

“Working with our existing Engineering Group, he will bring a valuable perspective and knowledge to help shape our approach in the short and medium-term.

“This appointment coincides with Andrew Green stepping up to a new role where he will take a global perspective on the company’s mid to long-term technical strategy,” Szafnauer concluded.

How is the Silverstone-based team doing this season?

The British team did get off to a slow start when the season kicked off. However, things quickly turned around at the Monaco GP when Sebastian Vettel finished in fifth place, and at the next race in Baku, he came second, giving Aston Martin their first podium of the season.

The Silverstone-based squad currently holds seventh place in the constructor’s standings with 37 points. They hope that in the upcoming race in France. They achieve a better result and bring crucial points needed for the championship.
