Aston Martin came into the Singapore GP weekend with high hopes and an even higher bar set for the rest of the season. The cars’ characteristics are believed to suit the track as the Green team focuses on finishing second. However, after an unfortunate turn of events, the hopes of scoring huge points this weekend have been reduced. Yes, we’re talking about Lance Stroll‘s crash in qualifying. But just like the season opener Bahrain GP, the question now arises: can Sebastian Vettel make a comeback following the crash?
The Canadian driver pushed a little too hard, going into the last corner on his final lap in Q1, as he was desperately trying to get out of Q1. However, the car went beyond its limit, the rear end twitched and Stroll ended up in the barriers with a huge shunt. Fortunately, the driver was okay. However, the shunt was a big one. Whilst Stroll is okay, he is feeling a bit sore from the impact. And his AMR23 was in pieces, with a huge job for the mechanics.

As a result of Stroll’s soreness and the AMR23 being in pieces, Aston Martin has decided that Stroll wouldn’t participate in the Singapore GP. Team Principal Mike Krack said, “The whole team is relieved that Lance was able to step out of the car after yesterday’s accident – however, he is still feeling the after-effects of such a high-impact crash. Our priority now is that he makes a full and speedy recovery. Together, we have decided that he will sit out this evening’s race and instead focus fully on returning to the cockpit for next weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix.”
So, if Lance Stroll isn’t racing, will someone replace him? Will Sebastian Vettel make a comeback after he hinted at a chance of return at the Red Bull Nurburgring event? Well, the answer is no. A driver cannot race until and unless he has qualified for the race. Since Stroll is the one who qualified and isn’t racing, the grid slot will remain empty.
Nonetheless, there’s always another time for Vettel to come back to F1. After all, the man bleeds in motor racing. But what exactly did Sebastian Vettel say about making a comeback?

Remember how Fernando Alonso, during Sebastian Vettel’s last race in F1, suggested that he’s sure the 4x champ will make a comeback to the F1 grid. Who better than Alonso to know about it, who came back to F1 after taking a break and is arguably at the top of his form? The adrenaline rush of F1 is such that it keeps calling on the drivers. Sebastian Vettel is no different, as he acknowledged the possibility of a comeback.
According to Formula1.com, speaking with Sky Sports, Sebastian Vettel, when asked about making an F1 comeback, said, “I can’t say no, because you don’t know. I think it’s something that if you asked all of them, probably some of them would have said, ‘No’, and some of them, ‘I don’t know’, but in the end all of them came back, so I can’t exclude it.”
