Formula 1 is a brutal sport not just because of its on the drivers on the track but especially for its effects on the drivers off of it. The drivers go through a lot of mental stress because of the various aspects of being an F1 driver and during their journey of becoming one. We can highlight that with the example of Felipe Drugovich.

The young Brazilian driver’s F1 debut in the 2023 season opener was postponed because of Lance Stroll‘s miraculous recovery. Now it seems his debut might be postponed indefinitely thanks to the same man, or rather his family.

According to Peter Windsor, Lawrence Stroll‘s obvious open but untouchable politics in Aston Martin is hurting the chances of Drugovich which is taking the Brazilian’s career on a sad trajectory already. In his latest YouTube video, after highlighting his FP1 track times, the F1 veteran highlighted how staying at Aston Martin will never see him race in F1.

“As I’ve been saying for a long time now, Felipe Drugovich is serious business. I’m surprised, to be honest, that Aston Martin gave him such a good run. First of all on the mediums and then on the softs, which is basically what Lance Stroll did. He was as quick as Stroll on the mediums and quicker on softs. That’s probably we’re ever going to hear of Felipe Drugovich,” said Windsor.

He added, “The point I’ve been making from day one, even though he’s paying quite a lot of money to Aston Martin for the privilege of being in this position, is that it would be incredibly annoying for the Stroll family to have this young guy coming in and showing up Lance.”

“So what his future is there, I have no idea. I suppose, if Fernando Alonso doesn’t race in 2025, looking ahead a long way, maybe he’s in the running. Even then they’re not going to want a young guy coming in and blowing away young Lance.” He then corrected himself and said, “Blowing away the son of the owner of the team.”

He also mentioned how the Stroll family can just claim if it wasn’t for them, there wouldn’t be a team for Drugovich to be testing with anyway.

This is where the ugly politics of the Aston Martin team comes into play. This is where despite consistently underwhelming performances there is one driver still racing in the premier class while others wait to get their opportunity. This is exactly why there was a media onslaught in the middle of the current season to see the Candian driver be replaced and many experts were behind the idea.

F1 veteran makes a chilling prophecy regarding Lance Stroll’s Aston Martin future

The Canadian has been part of F1 since 2017. Despite showing a lot of promise during the early stages of his career, his three podiums are the highlights of his career so far. Although still 25, the Canadian could’ve proved his mettle while driving the most competitive car he’s ever driven but failed to capitalize on this opportunity.

This is exactly why, keeping in mind his initial years in F1 in mind, David Croft (Crofty) urged to get his mojo back or face a harsh future in the sport.

Crofty said “I think he’s lost his way a little bit. He’s lost his Mojo and whatever has happened, Lance just doesn’t seem to be as motivated as he was at the start of the season and I do wonder if we are approaching a time when it’s the one driver on the grid that’s guaranteed a job as long as your dad is there.”

He added, “But I just have a little feeling that in a year and a half’s time, Lance Stroll will race his last race in Formula 1 and go off and do something else.”
