Ever since the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix started taking shape, it has attracted a lot of criticism. The criticism has stemmed from various aspects of the race weekend and especially its preparation. However, putting some faith in the most anticipated race of the year, Aston Martin‘s confidant silenced the critiques from at least the driver’s perspective.

The preparation for the race has been a nightmare, especially for the residents of Vegas. Perhaps the race itself might be as well for the fans because of the difficult timing of the entire weekend. However, Pedro de la Rosa believes it won’t take a toll on the drivers and the teams.

The upcoming Las Vegas GP has the most unique timings for any weekend on the calendar. The action is all scheduled for extremely late at night to give it the night race feel. This scenario, for the first time since the 2019 Japanese GP, will see the qualifying and race on the same day within the 24-hour window.

F1 Nation podcast host Tom Clarkson suggested this would make the race extremely intense for the drivers, but de la Rosa refuted the suggestion based on his personal experience.

Dismissing the timing curfuffle, Pedro de la Rosa said, “I think it’s intense for everyone, but really, it’s not an issue though. It’s not an issue because there are many things for the drivers that are easy in Las Vegas.”

“First thing is the temperature. Temperatures will be helpful, dehydration levels will be very low, or non-existent. The cooler it is, the easier it is for the drivers, the more oxygen is in the air so basically your pulse rate becomes lower. There are long straights in Las Vegas, so every long straight means that you take a breath, you have time for a drink, you don’t need to stress yourself for a few seconds so it is very easy. I think it will be an easy track for the drivers,” he concluded.

There you have it folks, despite all the drama surrounding the weekend, the race might be more straightforward than we think. However, these easy conditions of low track temperatures do raise one concern for Red Bull boss Christian Horner.

Christian Horner expresses his concern about the low track temperature for the Las Vegas Grand Prix

Thanks to the incredible run the RBR and especially Max Verstappen, took on during the middle of the season, both the championships are wrapped up. Now, it’s a matter of how many races the team can win and how far can they extend their record. Verstappen-led Red Bull are the favorites for every track. However, that won’t be the case with the Las Vegas Street Circuit with the entire grid racing on the track for the first time.

In fact, the unusual track temperatures will also pose challenges, as explained by Christian Horner in an interview.

Horner said, “I was watching Max on the simulator yesterday driving around the circuit. It looks a great track. I mean, it’s gonna be super fast, there’s gonna be a lot of overtaking, opportunities, and the tires. It could be like driving on ice. You know which just adds another dimension. So, particularly on a road course on a street circuit, that can test the drivers and the team to the absolute maximum. “
