Lawrence Stroll has developed a reputation in F1 for being the splurging billionaire owner. Having bought the Aston Martin team (formerly Force India and Racing Point), the Canadian businessman has extensively invested in the team. Although, it took him years to build this reputation and financial capacity. Back in 2012, Stroll splurged a large sum of money just in celebration when he achieved his billionaire status.
Along with partner Silas Chou, Stroll made a huge success of their fashion label Michael Kors in 2011. As per the New York Post, Stroll bought a $50 million apartment in New York City in 2012. This apartment was in One57, one of the tallest buildings in the Big Apple.
Lawrence Stroll was worth $1.8 billion back then and had achieved his billionaire status after he took Michael Kors public with his partner, Chou. Even Chou had signed up to buy a $50 million full-floor apartment in this 90-story building on 157 W. 57th Street. Both Stroll and Chou’s apartments were above the 80th floor, as the Post reported.

While his $50 million apartment was a start, Stroll has moved up to buying luxury yachts worth $200 million since then. Given his son, Lance Stroll was also making his way into his racing career, Lawrence got a good trajectory to build his fortune post-2012.
In the present day, Lawrence Stroll is fully focused on making the Aston Martin brand big in F1. He also has got other motorsport ambitions too in different racing categories. But for now, he wishes to make Aston a winning constructor at the pinnacle of motorsport.
Can Lawrence Stroll and his Wealth help Aston Martin dominate F1?
It is a tough one to predict given the backward steps Aston Martin has taken in the last 2 seasons. The rebranding under Lawrence Stroll’s leadership was supposed to be a huge step toward F1 championship success. Though, given their current status; it will take some time before the green cars stand on the top spot of the podium regularly.
Stroll has invested heavily in Aston’s infrastructure and facilities at Silverstone. The new AMF1 factory and HQ will finish construction in 3 different phases. While the first two phases are vital for team operations, car development, and manufacturing, they are expected to be completed by mid-2023 and mid-2024, respectively.
The second phase critically includes a brand-new wind tunnel that can help Aston bridge the gap with the top teams. Though, their 2025 car might be the first one to benefit partially from the new wind tunnel.
