The F1 2022 season is going as planned for the Silverstone-based Aston Martin. However, the British constructors have another problem in hand as they might have to look for a Sebastian Vettel replacement for the next 2023 season.
The four-time world champion joined the Silverstone base back in 2021. After being unable to win championships with Ferrari, Seb joined Aston Martin in hopes of winning another title. However, the German maestro couldn’t even finish top 10 last season. And Vettel has only scored 4 points so far in the 2022 season.

Recently, many rumors have suggested that the German might not fight for a fifth championship title after the 2022 season. Instead, he might bid adieu to Formula One. However, if the German quits, the British team would have a vacant seat to fill. But there are already speculations that they might replace Seb with another German driver.

The Silverstone base is eyeing Mick Schumacher to replace his mentor figure Vettel at Aston Martin. Further, the young Schumi’s talent is the only reason for signing him as the English constructors are also planning this move to help them sell more Aston Martin cars in the German market.
Aston Martin is also eyeing Fernando Alonso
The Silverstone-based team is trying to get Mick. But it won’t be an easy task to terminate Mick’s association with Ferrari. So, Aston Martin has another option to fill in for Vettel if the German retires next season.

Aston Martin also has their eyes on the two-time world champion, Fernando Alonso, to replace the four-time world champion, Seb. Earlier in 2022, Alonso expressed his wish to continue driving in F1 for a few more years. However, Alpine F1 is in a dilemma to resign Fernando or debut Oscar Piastri.
If Alpine goes for the young talent of Piastri, then the English team would get Alonso onboard. Undoubtedly, the Spaniard would be a great addition, as talent and experience are two excellent skills in F1, and Alonso has got both. However, it’s still early to say what will happen in the Silverstone base.

The English constructors can focus on the 2022 season for now. They have the seventh race, the Monaco GP, this week, and they should focus more on scoring points this season. Aston Martin still has time to think about next season and whether Seb would actually retire from the sport.
