The four-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel, had a disastrous 2020 season with Scuderia Ferrari. The German, who could be often found in the top 3, was battling with the midfield cars all season long. As a result, Vettel finished the season P13 in the driver’s championship with only 33 points to his name.
After the Maranello-based team endured one of the worst campaigns in Formula 1 since 1980, Sebastian Vettel left Ferrari for the new/rebranded Aston Martin this season. The German had a rollercoaster first half of the season with his new team.
Meanwhile, Aston Martin team principal, Otmar Szafnauer believes that the four-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel, is enjoying racing again. In addition, the American engineer revealed why the German joined them.

What did Otmar Szafnauer say?
As quoted by GPFans, when asked if Sebastian Vettel has found his feet in the new car after a tough start to the year, Otmar Szafnauer replied, “Yeah, he’s more comfortable on the team. He’s more comfortable in himself.
“At the beginning, before Seb came here, he said, ‘Look, the reason I want to come is I want to enjoy racing again.’ That was his reason for coming. If you ask him, which I often do, he’s at a point now where he enjoys racing again.”
“He didn’t enjoy Silverstone. He said he shouldn’t have made that mistake, but it happens to the best of us. Anyway, he feels really, really comfortable. He’s enjoying racing again, which is good. That’s exactly what he wanted,” added the Aston Martin team principal.
Sebastian Vettel on the new 18-inch tires
With the new car regulations to come into force from next season, all the teams on the grid have already started preparing for the 2022 season. And one such notable rule is the introduction of 18-inch tires. These tires will be five-inch bigger compared to those which are in use this season.
And during the British Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel got to try the new 18-inch tires for the first time, but the German had some criticism on how the new tires hampered forward visibility.
“The big wheels make the view to the front even worse. All the mirror mounts are in the way. The best thing was when the mirrors were attached to the Halo,” said Sebastian Vettel as reported by Auto Motor Sport.

“With the covers and the large wheels you can no longer see the curbs,” added the German.
