The 2022 season regulation changes offered a clean slate for the teams. It gave them a chance to go back to the drawing board and possibly design a title-winning car. It was an opportunity some accepted with open hands, whereas some possibly dropped the ball. Aston Martin was one of those teams who failed to capitalize.

Aston Martin generated a lot of buzz when they decided to re-enter F1 in 2021. However, their second stint in the sport has promised a lot but not lived up to its hype.

The team stole all the headlines with their decision to enter F1 in 2021. However, the 2021 season went far from as planned. The minor regulation changes meant that low rake cars were at a disadvantage from the start with Aston being one of them.
The 2022 season was supposed to be somewhat of a redemption season for the Silverstone team. However, it has again been a letdown with the team struggling for pace. This has been hard for the team with engineers and mechanics taking to social media to let their frustration known.

Some masked their cynicism, about this year’s car, with humor whereas some took the more direct approach to reach out to the fans. The fans also sympathized with the team.

While there is still a long way to go in the season, the team needs to bring their A-game out on track and quickly.

The Bahrain GP kicked off the 2022 season on Friday. The teams all had some contrasting fortunes. While Ferrari went on to have a flawless weekend, Aston had one to forget. Driver Sebastian Vettel tested positive for Covid and was ruled out for the weekend. The team had to draft in reserve driver Nico Hulkenberg last minute.
It did not get any better from there on out. They had both cars knocked out in Q1 with Stroll in 19th and Hulkenberg in 17th. The race was more of the same with both drivers finishing outside the points in 12th and 17th.
