The Bahrain pre-season testing concluded a week ago. While it was a smooth cruise for the reigning world champions, Red Bull, it seemed as though Mercedes was still figuring out how to gain speed against its rivals. The activity which in fact gained speed was the analysis of volumes of data that were collected. Resultantly, the Silver Arrows have brought in a development that is already making heads turn.

Amidst allegations of sandbagging, Mercedes probably was still going the trial-and-error route. During the testing, the Brackley outfit ran double spoon rear wings. This resulted in the poor performance of Mercedes. Lewis Hamilton even came out and said that the straight-line speed is something they need to work upon. With the first race of the season only a few days away, the preparation at the Bahrain circuit has already begun. This is where the new and improved rear wing on the Mercedes car was spotted.

According to Andreas Haupt from Auto Motor und Sport, Mercedes has a ” new rear wing for Bahrain GP. Less down force, less drag.”
