We are four races away from the 2022 season grand finale in Abu Dhabi. However, the race at Yas Marina Circuit of the 2021 season championship season is still the talk of the town. The race in 2021 saw Red Bull championship Max Verstappen cheered all across the world, but it seems the tables have turned now.

The tables have turned after the delayed announcement of the financial infringement from the 2021 season. The announcement revealed Red Bull overspent in 2021 in a minor capacity. However, this revelation was enough to turn a few fans on the Dutch world champion. The fans’ behavior at the US Grand Prix driver’s public interview was a result of the same.
The fans at the Circuit of The Americas gathered to watch their favorite drivers. Most drivers were interviewed in front of an enormous crowd. When Verstappen took to the stage, a video captured fans booing the Red Bull man and his teammate.
Laura Winter, a sports broadcaster, was on interview duty and when she came across the video going viral on ESPN F1’s Twitter page, she had to make a revelation. “I can’t speak for the drivers but I couldn’t hear this on stage…” she replied to the Tweet.
The initial Tweet had captured the fans booing Verstappen and chanting “cheater”.

Max Verstappen is not new to being booed by a group of fans. However, being accused of cheating because of your team’s overspending might just be a bit harsh.
Max Verstappen receives a horrible reception at the US Grand Prix and Twitter reacts
Harsh or not, the fans made themselves heard, at least to a small group did. Moreover, even if the chants of the fans did not reach the stage, it has reached the world stage thanks to Twitter.

The boos might have not reached the stage with Red Bull fans muffling the chants with their cheers.

The fans on Twitter called out the fans for labeling the Dutchman a “cheater”. However, the sound did not reach the stage. Even if it did, we have a feeling Verstappen is used to such receptions from fans who still carry a sour taste from the 2021 season result.
