Michael Andretti has recently talked about his potential entry to Formula 1. The son of Mario Andretti, former F1 champion, has opened up about his talks with Alfa Romeo’s high officials regarding the team takeover.

The Andretti family is already in the racing business. They have an Indycar team in the name of Andretti Autosport. However, the family now wants to expand their business into F1. Hence, there were talks in regard to the potential takeover from Alfa Romeo.
Talking about the Alfa Romeo takeover, Andretti said, “It was a joke. We were ready. It was done. We had scheduled a signing day, and literally two days before that, they changed the terms. Basically, they still wanted to be in control. I said, ‘No, they can’t be in control keep it.”
“Suddenly they wanted a veto on everything. It was horrible. We wasted so much time. If we hadn’t done that, we would have been a lot further on everything else.“, the 59-year-old further stated.

Why Andretti wants to get into Formula 1?
Thanks to the Drive to Survive series by Netflix, Formula 1 has recently gained huge popularity in the United States. This thrilling series has gained massive popularity and has taken the sport in a whole new direction. And now it is Andretti’s efforts to bring another American team into the sport, after Haas.
Since the motorsport has become so popular in America, the United States is set to host two races this season. The first race to take place in Miami, and the other one be at Circuit of The Americas. Apart from Europe, America could become the next big fanbase for the sport. Hence, to grab the most of it, Michael Andretti, an American international, wants to put out another American team into the mix, entitled “Andretti Global”.
