A dog with a bone, that’s what Andretti is to Formula 1. The American racing giant has been after the circus for years now and they won’t rest until they get the nod. In these efforts, Andretti Autosport received a massive boost when they cleared a step with a yes from the FIA. However, they will feel unwelcome and disrespected after FOM – Formula 1 Management snubbed Andretti to lay out the carpet for their $39 billion partner.
This will surely create a messy situation between the two partners and stir up much drama if General Motors accepts this offer. GM only got on board with the idea after partnering with Andretti a few months ago. However, if GM piggybacks off of Andretti to get entry into F1, it will be a blatant betrayal from F1 and GM. Let’s look at the update.

Andretti’s entry into sport has always been marred with several factors, especially the resistance from the sport and existing teams. The resistance toward the American racers was mainly on two grounds. The sport and everyone else questioned the “added value” from Andretti joining the sport and, more importantly, the dilution of the prize money.
However, FOM threw these two concerns out of the window with their latest invitation to Andretti’s partner, GM.
🚨 | NEW! F1 has reportedly asked if General Motors will join the grid… but partnering with a team OTHER THAN Andretti.

According to several reports, F1, after their “conduct our own assessment of the merits of the (Andretti) application” claim, took an interesting step in this entire saga. Apparently, the FOM has approached the American automaker GM to extend them an invitation to enter the sport, but without Andretti.
The sport wants GM, who got on board with the idea a few months ago thanks to Andretti’s efforts, to enter the sport as a standalone brand or partner with anyone else but Andretti.

What can they do to convince F1 of their value? According to the CEO, it’s certainly not money that matters.

Ever since the FIA nod, Andretti has become the talk of the F1 town and everyone has an opinion. In fact, some are polar opposites in the same camp and there are a lot of mixed feelings about an 11th team on the grid. However, the final decision will come from the FOM and they have a process, insists the CEO Stefano Domenicali.
Domenicali emphasized this point, stating, “I’m not changing my mind on that point. It’s not about money like we said, and I don’t want to prejudge anything because there is a process going on.”
