Sometimes actions speak louder than words because words can be deceiving. This is exactly why we have experts in the field of body language. Sometimes body language can reveal a lot about a person’s attitude towards a certain situation despite what their opinion may be. This is exactly how Sky Sports F1 host Naomi Schiff could comment on the much-debated contract extension of Lewis Hamilton.

Since the previous season, there have been a lot of suggestions and rumors about Hamilton retiring. At one point, because of the poor state of the W14, even the fans suggested the same. However, every single time, Hamilton communicated his desire to race and win the elusive eighth championship title. Yet, so far, the plan is off track.

There is no secret in the sub-par standard of the Mercedes W14. If not initially, everyone in Brackley believes so as well now. This is also the reason the contract extension talks are on hold between the Brit and Mercedes. Hamilton needs to see initiative and work with a team that can help him achieve this dream. So far Mercedes has not looked up to the task until Baku.

As reported by Express, Schiff discussed the Brit’s contract situation. After Baku, he made an interesting observation. “His face was quite telling there. A little bit of a nod. If you think of where he was last season, it’s a big change,” said the Sky reporter.

The subtle gesture by Hamilton was enough to convince Schiff of Hamilton’s positive attitude toward his team. The car’s performance during the main race in Baku is definitely a factor. Apart from the nod, Hamilton expressed that in words as well.

Apart from his body language, Lewis Hamilton spoke words of appreciation for his team as well, pointing to a possible contract extension

For months now, The Brit has criticized his team for the lack of performance, such is his outspoken nature. Hamilton publicly disregarded the flawed concept of the W13, which was adopted for the W14 as well. This criticism got justification as well when the team accepted their shortcoming and decide to change the concept. The changes are already bearing fruit and Hamilton also appreciated these efforts during an interview post Azerbaijan GP.

“There is such a winning mindset and everyone is focused on progressing and getting to where we know we can get to. I don’t think there are any mistakes or any failures. I think this is just the build of getting to where we need to be. Everyone is staying positive in the garage, everyone is just doing their jobs to the best of their ability and that is all we can ask for right now until we get those upgrades which will hopefully put us much more in the fight,” expressed Hamilton.

We wonder what happens if the team cannot deliver even after the Imola deadline.
