Lando Norris is one of the most affable personalities in the Formula 1 paddock. However, once in a while, we do see that dry British humour peak from within the likeable and happy-go lucky confines of the Brit.

At the Mexican Grand Prix, Norris had one of his most off races. For one, he finished behind his teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Now that’s a rare sight, isn’t it? Further, throughout the race, he scraped through to finish P9. But when he was asked about his torrid race start, the Brit didn’t hold back any punches.

Norris was being interviewed by Sky Sports in the media pen after the race. Ted Kravitz asked him, “What happened at the start, you dropped down to P10?” To which the Briton quickly and hilariously retorted, “It’s only 2 positions, you should try driving, mate.”

Recently, even Max Verstappen was miffed when Kravitz suggested that Verstappen won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2021 only because of his car. This made the Dutch driver boycott Sky Sports.

Daniel Ricciardo drove a brilliant race at the Mexican GP. He started on the Mediums and extended his stint for long enough to shift to the Softs for a late charge in the race. What’s more? It paid off. However, his teammate Lando Norris, who finished in 9th, 2 places behind the Australian, has termed this as just a simple stroke of luck.

He began by saying, “We did a good job – maybe we covered Yuki a bit too early on the hard tyre and that wasn’t a great thing to do, but apart from that the strategy was reasonable and Daniel did a good job.” That being said, he went on to dismiss his entire praise for Ricciardo. He said, “Daniel was in a lucky position, that he could stay out and do whatever he wanted. In other races I’ve been able to do that, in Monza and so on, and today it has benefitted him.”
