Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc – 2 of the unluckiest drivers this season. They have what it takes to fight for the top position, but their respective cars don’t. Both of them are on the verge of completing their contract with their respective teams. In such a scenario, Ferrari Boss Frederic Vasseur claimed that he would be happy to welcome Hamilton into Ferrari. But to tackle that threat, Leclerc had a genius move up his sleeve.

Charles Leclerc is happy with Ferrari and will extend his stay with the team for another 5 years. This is a statement that Tifosi was longing to hear and they have finally got it. Vasseur, wanting Hamilton in place of Leclerc, was the biggest obstacle on this road. But the Monegasque is now rumored to sign a $204 million deal with the Maranello outfit. And this is because made sure he had 4 other options in the pipeline to divert the pressure back onto Ferrari.

According to F1ingenerale, “In addition to having explored the Red Bull and Mercedes options, the Monegasque would also have spoken to Alpine and Aston Martin, to evaluate the alternatives in case of non-renewal with the Maranello team.”

Ever since Leclerc joined Ferrari, it has been a bittersweet journey. The highs of the journey show individual capabilities and the lows show how his team is not facilitating him from achieving his best. Still, he has chosen to focus on the progress that the team has made this season. And after his 3rd podium at the Belgian GP, he highlighted the same.

“It’s not a completely happy face because we are still very far from Red Bull and this (podiums) is our target,” said Leclerc, after the Belgian GP. “On the other hand, after such a difficult first part of the season, it’s good to finish this half that way.”
