The Bahrain GP marked a debut for three rookies on the grid. Out of three, according to the final race standings, Logan Sargeant had the best debut. The American crossed the chequered flag in 12th with an impressive bump from his starting position of P16. Life in this ruthless world of Formula 1 hasn’t started off too bad for the American. According to his comments, Sargeant is of the same mentality as he is managing his expectations and easing into the premier class.

Formula 1 is extremely ruthless and competitive and in a relative sense is the survival of the fastest. The American isn’t driving the most competitive car on the grid, however, no one can take away from his performance. Moreover, the American barely lost out on his Q2 qualification on the debut with a bit of bad luck. Although apart from the qualifying disappointment, Sargeant is managing his expectations as quoted by Motorsport. ,

“You don’t want to get too greedy. It’s been a great weekend. I’m very, very happy with the way it went, I’m very happy with the pace we’ve had,” he said. “Am I a little disappointed to have missed Q2? Yes, because I know the car was capable of making it. As a driver that’s never the nicest feeling. But to be honest, that fuelled me, that gave me more motivation, and I want to come back and be better next time.”

The Williams man is getting plenty of support from his teammate Alex Albon as well. This could be the reason, Sargeant felt right at home from the first race.

Making it to the premier class is a dream of every racing driver racing in the series. Making your debut as the only American on the grid is a nerve-wracking scenario. However, that wasn’t the case for Sargeant as he felt “normal” during his debut race.

“I think before the formation lap, it was a little extra. But to be honest, I felt like once I got into the race, once I got into the rhythm, it all felt very natural,” he added while speaking to Motorsport.
