Colton Herta and Logan Sargeant are poles apart right now. While Sargeant looks prepared for his big day ahead with the Williams F1 team as a Nicholas Latifi replacement, his compatriot Herta is heartbroken and rues the missed opportunity. Herta was tied to a seat in AlphaTauri for the 2023 F1 season. However, the 22-year-old driver fell short after he failed to amass enough Super Licence points. In order to compete in F1, a driver needs to have 40 points, whereas the IndyCar driver only managed 32 points, as per Next Gen Auto report.

Super Licence points are counted on various championship results a driver takes part in the last three years. Even though the American had seven wins in IndyCar, things took a tough turn in 2022, and ultimately he took tenth place in the general classification.

All in all, Colton Herta did everything possible to make it F1. Sargeant, on the other hand, made it through to F1 after acquiring enough points to get access to F1 by the end of last year. Colton Herta tried everything to acquire Super Licence points

Colton Herta tried his best to pick up as many Super Licence points as possible. As per Next Gen Auto, Scott Goodyear revealed to Racer podcast about this, “Bryan Herta called me in July of this year, just before Toronto, and wanted to see if he could bring his son Colton to FRegional because he needed more points on his Super Licence.”
