Following the difficulties of Free Practice on Friday and a mistake during qualifying left the Dutchman on the back foot. However, given his immense talent and skills, the world champion bounced back and took the fight to Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. “The final phase of the race was still tense when the safety car came in. Max had a hard time, you could really see that he was kicking. But he knows exactly what he’s doing at that moment. I honestly expected Charles Leclerc to pass,” noted Jos. “Luckily Max managed to hold onto the lead, he is a tough racer.”

He further added, “Then the real question is which team will continue to develop the car best and which upgrades will work best immediately.”

In February 2022, Jos announced that he would be entering the world of rallying. And he has been bringing in the results. He finished second in the Monteberg Rally in Belgium. In the same column, he wrote that this rally was in preparation for the Ypres rally later in the year.

“I am happy with my second place, but apart from that also with the way in which the team has arranged everything and with the collaboration with my new navigator Harm van Koppen. That is really a lot better than before.”
