When Fernando Alonso left Alpine and Oscar Piastri publically denounced their contract, the French team were in a tight spot. But Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have a lot that’s riding on the team’s success, after investing $218 million in the French constructor.
Ironically, today marks the third anniversary of Reynolds and Co.’s acquisition of the Welsh football club, Wrexham AFC. While their team finally won the National League title earlier this year, their entry into Formula 1 is yet to reap any fruits that will interest the worldwide icon. But Esteban Ocon had the perfect gift to give to Ryan Reynolds ahead of the Las Vegas GP!

Ryan Reynolds and McElhenney entered the F1 world as team owners alongside Otro Capital and RedBird Capital Partners, but they were’nt expecting fellow football industry maestro Trent Alexander-Arnold to join them. But the new star partner is only the Deadpool actor, who was ecstatic when Esteban Ocon presented him with a tribute to his iconic Marvel Comics role that has gained notoriety worldwide.

In a video shared by Esteban Ocon on Instagram, Ryan Reynolds, and the Frenchman can be seen greeting each other as Ocon welcomes the Wrexham owner to the Alpine, saying, “I’ve got a cool thing for you.” as he reveals a special helmet featuring the Deadpool mask design as well as some Wrexham elements incorporated too. “Come on! Are you wearing this in the race?”, Reynolds was ecstatic!
“When you put this on you’re going to be insufferable”, said the Deadpool actor to Esteban Ocon. And while he was beaming with joy at the tribute, Reynolds confessed he hadn’t brought a big present for Ocon but had a little bracelet which spelled ‘daddy’ to give to him, awkwardly explaining that ‘it’s just a metaphor’, as the interaction sent the fans laughing uncontrollably in the comments section. It’s safe to say Ocon should stick to racing and Reynolds to the spotlight!
It isn’t just Esteban Ocon putting on a show with his helmet design, the 2023 Alpine challenger has also received a makeover for the Las Vegas Grand Prix. But what Ocon is probably most excited about amidst all this is the fact that Ryan Reynolds aka Deadpool is his boss in a way!

Last year in Austin, Esteban Ocon had dawned a Spiderman-themed helmet, and this year he upped his game to please the mischievous Deadpool. This is why when Ryan Reynolds joined Alpine as an investor, the Frenchman was over the moon. He was quoted by WTF1, “Obviously, I’m a massive comics and Marvel fan in general, and a massive Deadpool fan.
People usually say you should never meet your heroes because they might turn out to be different. But that wasn’t the case for Ocon, who added, “He’s someone that is very inspiring in what he does, also outside his acting world, he’s an extremely talented businessman as well. So I’m looking forward very much to being able to meet him and have a chat with him properly.”
