It’s the Formula 1 off-season and as much as we, the fans, hate it, it’s a much-needed break for all the drivers after a grueling 22-race season. Some drivers still had F1 and their team-related duties and engagements. However, those who did not have such commitments took the first flight out to their first holiday destination and Pierre Gasly was among those. However, co-incidentally the Frenchman ran into a doppelgänger of Lewis Hamilton.

Pierre Gasly even posted a photo with the doppelgänger in his dump from the London trip but made an exception, which made Hamilton call him out. The exception wasn’t server or reversible but the fact the Mercedes man noticed and called Gasly out in the comments is hilarious.

After finishing the F1 season on a high, Gasly immediately decided to cool himself down and take a trip to snowy London. The Frenchman took his girlfriend Kika Cerqueira Gomes along with him and the two did a lot of touristy things in London made evident by Gasly’s recent Instagram post captioned, Love a wintery london trip.

Among the 10 photos in the post, the third one caught Hamilton’s attention. The third photo on the carousel was from Madame Tussauds, London. So by now, you’ve probably guessed the doppelgänger in question is Hamilton’s statue in the famous wax museum.

Gasly posed with his hand on Hamilton’s wax statue’s shoulder and the photo made the post. However, Gasly did not let Hamilton know about it. By that we mean he did not tag Hamilton in the photo and this is exactly what Hamilton playfully called Gasly out for. Hamilton hilariously commented, no tag? on the post after which Gasly quickly rectified his error.

The comment just adds to their growing Instagram bromance/banter and we love to see it. We love to see two drivers keep the camaraderie alive on and off the track and not act as total strangers despite their differences.

Although Gasly and Hamilton share a bond as Gasly has expressed in the past and even supported the Brit in recent times.

Lewis Hamilton is one of the biggest athletes in the world and he uses that platform and recognition to the best of his abilities time and again. The Brit’s approach to bringing attention to serious agendas is an aspect that is appreciated by Gasly. He expressed that in a conversation on the F1: Beyond the Grid podcast.

“When I came into Formula 1, I didn’t have this awareness of how big the sport is and all the opportunities that it can bring. Actually, through small actions or messages that you’re going to vehiculate through our sports, you can have a bigger positive impact elsewhere in the world, whether it’s connected to our sport or whether it’s completely disconnected and helping people in need. That’s something which I feel is quite fulfilling, not as a driver, but more as a person,” he said about his growth since joining F1.

Lewis [Hamilton] is very inspiring in that sense because he’s involved in bringing spotlight on many different topics and I think it’s quite good for our young generation that we understand the power. Obviously, he’s got the biggest community, the biggest exposure, but we get a glimpse of what’s possible,” added Gasly when asked if any of the drivers have had that impact.

Mutual respect is always appreciated and we are sure Hamilton must’ve been delighted to hear he has had a positive impact on a fellow driver as he tries to spread positivity in this world. We hope this continues even after the Brit retires and someone else takes on the baton.
