Ever since the F1 Drive to Survive series came out, the F1 drivers have become as popular as the celebrities. Daniel Ricciardo is famous for his wide and bright smile that can make anyone’s day. With the Dutch GP weekend around the corner, the Australian took a ride in the river Amstel and was guilty of causing a traffic jam on Max Verstappen’s turf. However, he was then stopped by the police for a bizarre request. What was this request?

Daniel Ricciardo, along with his driving skills is known for his mischievous nature as well. However, it wasn’t his mischievous nature that caused the traffic jam in the city of Amsterdam. A promotional event was organized where Daniel Ricciardo along with the Toro Rosso STR7 took a boat ride across the river Amstel. Just thinking about putting an F1 car on a boat sounds a little fishy. This was only the beginning.

A personality like Ricciardo is bound to attract attention. To top it off, an F1 car was floating on the boat that he was on. This combination resulted in a traffic jam in Amsterdam. Not just a regular one, but a boat traffic jam. In the photo attached, the HoneyBadger can be seen with the caption, “@danielricciardo causing a boat traffic jam.” The event was organized by Catawiki in collaboration with AlphaTauri.

However, this wasn’t all. There’s more to this event and story. The boat was also stopped by the policemen. But what did they do? Don’t worry, no rules or regulations were broken. The police just stopped the boat to take some pictures. That’s the F1 effect, right there. @Catawiki uploaded a story where they put the question asking the users as to why the police stopped them. The right answer was to take photos with the other option being speeding.

Now, many of you might ask the question, what was the need for this event? Or why this event even took place. Well, it was for a great reason and one that you’d support as well. Let’s find out.

F1 cars are just not machines but also a part of history. Toro Rosso (now AlphaTauri) has put the STR7, their 2012 contender, and Daniel Ricciardo’s first F1 car in which he spent a full season, up for sale. Catawiki is the one who’s put the cars up for auction on their site with the current bid just shy of $200,000.
