Even though it may not seem like it, with the lives they lead and the things they do, but all F1 drivers are human. The drivers showcase those traits when they come in contact with the world outside the F1 world. Some do it by giving us a glimpse into their everyday life while some showcase that with their honest admissions about something near and dear. Daniel Ricciardo gave us a glimpse into his life with the theme of his 2022 Miami GP helmet. Ricciardo revealed his obsession with Jim Carrey and his hugely popular movie Ace Venture with the helmet design. Almost a year later, we have an explanation for the obsession.

His obsession with the award-winning American actor was highlighted when the Australian showcased his helmet and did multiple impersonations of Carey from the 1994 movie. He showcased that in an Instagram video posted on his account.

In the Instagram video, Ricciardo says, “Alright, Miami 2022 helmet. I thought it was very very very relevant to do Ace Ventura: Pet detective theme” before launching a series of impersonations of Jim Carey from the cult favorite.

Almost a year later, now it all makes sense as Ricciardo talked about his love for the American actor during a quick-fire Q&A on LinkedIn by Optus. In the video when asked who should play him in a series he said Adam Sandler or Jim Carrey.

However, his obsession with Ace Ventura revealed itself a few questions later. When asked about his all-time favorite movie, he revealed, “I’m probably going to say it’s a Jim Carey film. Ace Ventura: Pet Detective or Dumb and Dumber.”

Carrey’s Ace Ventura came up again when Ricciardo was who would be his best friend from a movie or TV show.

There you have it folks, Ricciardo loves Ace Venture just like the rest of us. This honest and highly relatable admission is also one of the reasons why the Australian is liked by everyone. In fact, his likeability is worth encashing on and Red Bull was doing exactly that.

Ricciardo’s life in F1 has taken a lot of turns since the 2022 summer break. The McLaren ousting, followed by the Red Bull offer, and now his life back on track with AlphaTauri. This turn of events would suggest that was always the plan from the Austrian team. However, Ricciardo was always eyeing the second seat and the Milton Keynes outfit hired Ricciardo to become the face of the team and not the sister team. In fact, even Helmut Marko admitted the team hired Daniel to encash his captivating charm and not see him drive for AlphaTauri.

“We have to remember that we are a great team. We also have the largest number of sponsors on the grid. This means that we also have many commitments every year, such as car shows and roadshows in the United States,” he said. “Who can do it better than Ricciardo with his smile, his shoeys and I don’t know what else he has up his sleeve?”

So forget the AlphaTauri seat, Ricciardo was primarily at Red Bull to help with the team’s popularity. However, life never goes according to plan and now we might just see the Australian don the RBR overalls in 2025.
