The 2023 F1 championship season might be over, but there was still some racing action left for us to witness. Many wouldn’t have heard about it, but thanks to Daniel Ricciardo and his antics, the entire world of social media is talking about it. It’s either Ricciardo’s usual hilarious antics or the way Max Verstappen described his actions on the track.

To give you some context, the season might’ve ended, but the duties of the Red Bull family didn’t. The entire Red Bull family, including the AlphaTauri men, participated in the Honda Racing Kart Cup. It was another Sunday with a Red Bull win. However, it was Ricciardo that made the headlines.

Several drivers took part in the 2023 Honda Kart Cup, including the four F1 drivers – Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo, Sergio Perez, and Yuki Tsunoda. During the race in their karts, Daniel Ricciardo decided to take a narrower inside line on the track, cut some corners, and make a dart to the front. However, this attempt to get to the front saw some collateral damage.

The collateral damage was Verstappen, who spun when Ricciardo crashed into him, leaving the Dutchman facing the wrong way. Regardless, the world champion pitted, allowing an undercut and fighting for P1 again. However, Sergio Perez, who took the lead after Verstappen’s spin, defended the P1 from Yuki Tsunoda until the end and won the race.

It was the post-race comments from Verstappen that made us grab our bellies and roll on the floor as the Dutchman perfectly summarised Ricciardo’s actions. When asked about the race, he said, “It went quite well, but then Daniel decided to be a terrorist. He was literally trying to kill everyone out there.”

At the back of our minds, we all know that, because of the scorned relationship with the entire Red Bull hierarchy, Sergio Perez will not get a contract extension after 2024. The Mexican played a crucial part in Verstappen’s first championship, but their relationship went beyond saving after the incidents in the 2022 season. Perez’s poor stretch of form in 2023 did not help his case either, and Daniel Ricciardo became a candidate for the second Red Bull seat. However, when asked about his preference for the seat, Verstappen ditched both his current and ex-teammate.

Speaking to the media, he said, “We talk about it. But he’s contracted to McLaren for a long time. We’ll see what happens in the future.” The ‘we’ in this statement is the Dutchman’s close friend, Lando Norris. He confessed the two discussed being teammates sometime later in their careers, and it became a possibility after the Brit proved his worthiness after his home race.
