Out of the three rookies that made it into Formula 1 last year, it was the AlphaTauri signing, Yuki Tsunoda, that stood out as the best, having clinched a decent 32 championship points. Of course, it was a rather disappointing start to his debut campaign, causing one too many incidents on the track.

However, as the season progressed, Tsunoda managed to up his game, which hit its peak over the season finale at Yas Marina. Starting from P8 on the grid, Tsunoda made a series of bold moves, including the crucial one on Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas on the final lap of the race.

Eventually, the 21-year-old reached home in P4, securing his best-ever race finish in Formula 1. Hence, the AlphaTauri garage was all smiles, as they finally began to sense the true pace of Tsunoda. But, there is still something about Tsunoda that is bugging the team – his abusive yelling on the team radio.

This has been one of the biggest drawbacks of Tsunoda; his angry rants against other drivers through the team radio have often dragged him into a negative light. And, well, AlphaTauri F1 boss, Franz Tost, is looking to put an end to it.

AlphaTauri looking to end Tsunoda’s habit of radio ranting

According to Motorsport, Franz Tost admitted that Tsunoda’s verbally abusive radio messages have hurt the entire outfit. Hence, the Austrian revealed that he will soon be having a talk about it with Tsunoda, advising him against swearing on team radio.

I’ll ask him not to do that. He can shout to himself if he wants to and not turn on the team radio. Doing otherwise hurts both him and the team,” he said.

For instance, the Spanish GP qualifying witnessed Tsunoda slamming his AlphaTauri after failing to qualify into Q2. “I can’t f*cking believe this car,” he yelled. There was also a moment where he demanded his race engineer to ‘shut up’ during the race in Baku. The list goes on!

Overall, there were a lot of occasions where Tsunoda’s on-track success was overshadowed by his radio abuses. Hence, with that potentially coming to an end, will Tsunoda receive more support from the F1 fandom?
