With Honda leaving the sport next year, Red Bull are without a power supplier. However, the Japanese engine manufacturers have confirmed that they are establishing a new power unit for the Milton Keynes-based team for next season, despite their imminent exit from the sport.

While, during the Austrian Grand Prix weekend, major engine manufacturers, including Mercedes, Ferrari, Renault, Audi, and Porsche, together discussed the new rules and regulations regarding the new engines for 2025.

Christian Horner and Dr. Helmut Marko were also present in the meeting and it seems they have discovered a long-term solution for their power unit. Furthermore, AlphaTauri team principal, Franz Tost is convinced a ‘big manufacturer’ will join Red Bull’s future engine project.

What did Franz Tost say?

As quoted by GPFans, AlphaTauri’s team principal, Franz Tost, revealed sooner or later Red Bull will collaborate with a leading engine manufacturer.

“I must say that Red Bull Technology, with Dr. Marko and [Christian] Horner are doing a fantastic job because the way they are going with this project is the absolutely right way to become independent,” said Franz Tost.

“Sooner or later, I’m convinced a big manufacturer will come in and bring some money or whatever, but to build up the infrastructure, to build up the know-how is the first and most important step for this.”

AlphaTauri will use the same components as Red Bull

Franz Tost has confirmed that the Faenza-based team will use the same units as the parent team, Red Bull, when the Milton-Keynes-based team hooks up with another engine manufacturer.

“I hope it’s a benefit because it’s coming from the same company because Red Bull is also the owner of Scuderia AlphaTauri,” said Franz Tost.

“This is everything on the side of Red Bull Technology and the rest we will see in the future, but I’m convinced that they will provide us with a very competitive engine.”
